Welcome to The Cradle of Life Project

The Cradle of Life is a "Rare Earth" project which started in 1998 when Fred Daniel bought the first land in the eManzana area. This small beginning became the Nkomazi Private Game Reserve, which is now part the Barberton Makhonjwa Mountains World Heritage Site.

The vision for the Great Nkomati River Valley is to become a substantial nature-based tourism and conservation destination and a primary catalyst for the stimulation of socio-economic benefits to a largely impoverished rural community, through pro-activefacilitation and collaboration by:

Mpumalanga tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA)

The Cradle of Life project (COL),

Private sector,

Communities and the State.

This initiative in southern Mpumalanga is expected to incorporate substantial and significantportions of the Nkomati River Valley and portions of the Barberton Mountainlands and the Northern Drakensberg.
