It is a vision, effort and passion that became an inspiring illustration of how a visionary and determined individual could take back the future by researching, monitoring, implementing and healing the Earth, to stem, halt and reverse environmental degradation (ecological crisis) and loss of the diversity of life (biodiversity).
Within the overall philosophy to preserve the total biodiversity and ensure that one element does not negatively affect others (plants, animals, insects, geology, landscapes and ecosystems), the aim of the Nkomazi project is to:
Create a nature reserve by acquiring, rehabilitating and restoring land into sustainable habitats and returning it to its ecological integrity. Re-introduce at a large scale, entire wild free-roaming animal populations that were there before humans interfered with it.Create a nature reserve by acquiring, rehabilitating and restoring land into sustainable habitats and returning it to its ecological integrity. Protect Nkomazi Wilderness against poaching, fires, pollution and the ravages of irresponsible development.
Sustain Nkomazi Wilderness by generating sustainable income from tourism (game viewing) and the establishment of resort facilities at the nature reserve.
It is the manifestation of a project aimed to create, protect and sustain the Cradle of Life Project. This required an impressive land assembly program (to acquire farms to form a continuous block(protect view lines and re-unite entire ecosystems), the healing of the Earth (rehabilitation, and restoration of land), research, monitoring and implementation of management recommendations, and the re-introduction of entire herds of free roaming wildlife.
